SAMPLE; (It's crappy and old, but I couldn't find anything better. Sorry :3 )Annie chewed thoughtfully on the end of her quill as her eyes skimmed the page of the book in front of her. The fingers that weren't holding the quill to her mouth were drumming impatiently on the table top. The girl was getting a bit frustrated; she kept trying to do the work and yet she found herself having to reread sections because her mind refused to stay focused. The buzz of chatter of the common room was distracting, particularly because it made Annie want to go find a friend and hang out instead of completing this essay. The library would be a smarter location; it's quiet calm would probably make it easier to concentrate. Annie considered packing her things and going to the library, yet she knew that if she did, she'd probably end up venturing off somewhere else, perhaps even wandering aimlessly in attempt to further procrastinate.
With a sigh Annie looked back out the window; it was only a matter of time before the sky lightened and it was time to turn her essay in. Briefly she weighed the pros and cons of not completing the assignment and simply not turning it in, but in the end, as usual, her responsibility won out and she decided she had to finish. Besides, if she allowed herself to not turn an assignment in, she'd likely start making a habit of it. No, it was better in the long run just to do it. She ran her hand through her long hair after setting the quill down. Annie folded her arms across her chest and slouched a bit in her chair, staring down at her assignment as if willing it to complete itself. Surprisingly enough, that didn't happen. Maybe she should just take a bit of a break, clear her head---
Annie's thoughts were promptly cut off by a loud shouting of "boo" coming from right next to her. She was not the type to have big dramatic displays of surprise or fear, except on rare occasion. Her response to Ryan's shout was to jump, but only ever so slightly, more just like a flinch, before turning to look at him with slightly widened eyes. For a moment her heart thudded irregularly fast against her chest; she was more shaken than she looked, but was naturally good at hiding it. She blinked at him, then raised a brow. "Jesus, Ryan, what was that for?" Her tone was accusing yet also playful, and the hint of a smile pulled at her lips. It took a few moments for his next words to fully sink in, since the pounding of her heart was still a bit attention-demanding. But soon the noise faded and made way for his question. She glanced at his offered hand, then ignored it as she smirked up at him. "That depends on what alternative you had in mind," she said with a light laugh.
