AND THAT'S JUST THE PRICE I PAYwhen i don't even know her nameSHE'S SLIPPING AWAY the great hall had been transformed into what seemed a life form unto itself. the entire place was covered in hopefully fake cobwebs and candles that seemed to add an eerie glow as they lighted the place. the event had just started and yet the music has already began booming across the hall. kids were dancing wildly everywhere. the bulk of them were dressed up lavishly whereas caleb had on a simpler outfit. for a moment he was self conscious about this before deciding his outfit was fine enough. his black gloves, black tux, and fedora hat made him look like the mafia boss described in one of his muggle cousin's books. he hoped that molly wouldn't find his costume too bland.
in all truth, caleb was hoping molly wouldn't find him too bland. he had made out an awkward situation for the two of them when he attempted to ask her out to the ball the other day. caleb grew red in the face, teeming with embarrassment and nerves, and eventually turned the question into asking her to the ball on a date to asking her to the ball as friends. seeing the nerves between the two of them when he began to ask, caleb thought maybe it was better they were going as friends. a relationship could make them end up hating one another or just end up awkward. caleb wouldn't give him friendship with molly for the world and losing her as a friend could really hurt him.
the entrance of the great hall was were caleb lurked nervously, hoping that molly hadn't ditched him for some older gryffindor date. his eyes darted in the noise of every person walking toward the entrance, hoping it was her. he began to run his fingers nervously through his hair and paced in a small circle while waiting for molly to arrive. the nerves were beginning to get to him and as he showed when he tried to ask her out, nerves did not effect caleb very well. the clock showed it was just a small bit after the start of the ball and molly should arrive at any second.

LOOK TO THE PAST AND REMEMBER HER SMILE AND MAYBE TONIGHT I CAN BREATHE FOR A WHILE
---------------------------
PLACE YOUR HAND IN MINE, I'LL LEAVE WHEN I WANNA while most girls her age had been looking forward to this ball for weeks, and had planned their outfits and had gotten far too much into the dance, molly had been nervous about it. normally, she loves dressing up and she loves to dance, but for some reason she was nervous about this one. it wasn't that she was scared about making a fool of herself or worrying that someone would have the same dress. she was worried about who she would take. she had always planned on going with caleb, but it was letting him know that they were going together that would be the problem. she kept chickening out when trying to ask him. and then one day, out of the blue it seemed, he asked her. she was relieved and happy that he wanted to go with her. but, they were going as friends. that wasn't exactly what molly pictured or what she wanted, but it was just going to have to do for the time being.
she was incredibly nervous up until the point of actually entering the ball. when she walked through the doors she felt less alien. it was just her school, only with extra spiders and halloween-esque decorations. she loved how they designed the room, with the lights and the cobwebs. she wasn't a huge fan of spiders, but the cobwebs looked cool, none the less. she looked around the room for her date. she wasn't sure exactly what she was going to wear until about an hour ago. she felt slightly undressed, as some people went all out with their dresses and costumes. but, molly, despite public opinion, was not the type to throw on some extravagant dress or put on a costume. she wore a simple dress that she liked. nothing fancy or crazy for her. just something she found comfortable and was going to be able to dance in.
after a few minutes of looking, she managed to find her date. he was alone, which pleased her. she did enjoy groups, but this was her and caleb's first friends only not date date thing. and she wasn't willing to be spending it with other people. she was also happy that he wasn't dancing with some other girl. he is a nice guy. he probably wouldn't decline then. molly approached, feeling less nervous now that she saw him and was in a familiar environment. "my, you look handsome. i am a very lucky girl that you are my date." she smiled. "sorry i'm kinda late."

AND THAT'S JUST THE PRICE I PAYwhen i don't even know her nameSHE'S SLIPPING AWAY a large smirk spread across caleb's face as he saw molly. she was wearing a beautiful outfit that was unique and not too fancy. it was exactly what he would expect for her to wear, something beautiful, quirky, and wild. as molly approached him, cable still was in a bit of a shell shock that he was at the dance with her. molly greeted him with a compliment before he could say anything and then apologized for her tardiness with a mesmerizing smile. he couldn't not forgive her. wow, you look beautiful. i'm the lucky one. he gave molly one last look over before adjusting his fedora and looking out towards the hall. and you're not really late. this all just started. caleb took a pause and smiled back at molly. i'm glad your here.
the halloween ball was truly in full spin now, with nearly everyone on the dance floor. caleb was unsure as to what band was playing, but he was sure there was a live band somewhere amongst the crowd. the rules at hogwarts against electronics made a sound system or a DJ nearly impossible, so the chance of a live band was most possible. despite caleb's height standing at a tall six foot one inches, he still couldn't see across the large crowd of dancing students. the party really was a hit and as he looked around, some of the students had really took some time on their outfits. some students were dressed lavishly in outfits that must have cost thousands of gallons. one slytherin girl wore a green circular puffed dress that was at least six feet around with a trail that was three feet long and getting stepped on by other students. caleb was glad he and molly dressed in simple yet fancy outfits.
caleb looked down towards molly and butterflies filed back up in his stomach. he was glad that he was here with her, as a friend or not. it didn't matter. caleb put his arm out for molly to take. trying to be suave, shall we? he said smiling, with a hint of nerves. the dance was before them and caleb was ready to dance, party, and feast. halloween was not his favorite holiday of the year but he was still going to enjoy it, especially since he was with molly. as caleb waited for molly to grab onto his arm, the more he prayed for the night to be perfect. he really didn't want to screw anything up.
